- Department: Orthopedic Clinic.
- Scheduled Hours: 0800-1630.
- Working Days: M-F, alternating weekends and holidays.
- Location: Los Angeles, CA 90033.
- Salary Range: $26-$31/hr.
- Status: Ongoing Full-Time Assignment.
What you will do:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Orthopedic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist providers with orthopedic procedures, patient care, and the application and management of orthopedic devices while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient clinical environment.
Orthopedic Technician Summary of Job Responsibilities:
- Review provider orders and select, fabricate, apply, adjust, modify, and remove orthopedic devices according to clinical needs and established standards.
- Prepare patients, examination rooms, equipment, and documentation for orthopedic examinations and procedures.
- Assist providers with the application and removal of casts, splints, braces, and other orthopedic devices.
- Assist with specialized orthopedic devices, including Minerva jackets, halo casts, hip spicas, cast braces, and plaster pylons.
- Obtain and record vital signs, patient history, and other relevant clinical information.
- Assist with patient positioning, transfers, mobility, and use of crutches or other assistive devices.
- Provide wound care, dressing changes, and post-procedure care as directed.
- Educate patients and families on proper care of casts, braces, orthotic/prosthetic devices, and traction.
- Prepare and maintain orthopedic instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Accurately document patient information, procedures, and clinical notes in the EHR.
- Maintain clean and organized treatment areas while following infection control and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Support patient flow and other clinical duties as needed.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Orthopedic Technician certification preferred.
- Minimum one year of experience in an orthopedic or clinical healthcare setting preferred.
- Must have flexible schedule to accommodate coverage needs.
- Must be bilingual Spanish.
- Current CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- Proof of MMR and Varicella vaccinations or titers.
- Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 months.
- Current Annual Health Clearance.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledge of EHR systems, orthopedic terminology, and basic clinical procedures.
- Must have reliable source of transportation.
